Immersed tube tank contents sensor - also measures inclination of vehicle, using additional slip contacts on pivoting float

An immersed tube sensor for measuring the contents of a vehicle tank has a mounting flange attached to the tube and a centrally guided float with a slip contact acting in conjunction with a resistance path parallel to the guide rod axis. The sensor also acts as an inclination measurement instrument which occupies little extra space and is simple and very economical to make. For this purpose, the float has a slot parallel to the vehicle longitudinal axis and can pivot w.r.t the guide rod in the plane of the slot. Auxiliary slip contacts on the float act in conjunction with additional resistive paths on the circuit board carrying the level measurement track. The additional paths are connected to an indicator via a differential amplifier.
