An articulated chair has a divided back rest whose lower portion 4 is pivoted at 6 to the seat 2, and at its upper edge 7 to upper portion 5. The lower portion 4 forms one bar of a four bar linkage 4, 8, 9, 11 and the upper portion 5 is fast with bar 8. An extension 11A of bar 11 is coupled to an actuator unit 16, e.g. a gas spring, extension of which deflects the linkage to cause the lower portion 4 to pivot forwardly, and the upper portion 5 to pivot rearwardly relative to the lower portion. The seat may be tiltable and the forward edge portion of the seat may be pivoted to the remainder. <IMAGE> |
