<p>The loading and unloading mechanism is for a heat-treatment furnace for blooms, billets etc. having a first loading rod sliding in the lengthwise direction in a moving truck, and second rod sliding along the first, each with a jaw gripping the workpiece at the same end. The rods are slid towards and away from each other by a drive on the truck so as to grip the work between the jaws. On the truck (10) is a coupling mechanism (26) engaging positively with the rods (12, 14) in such a manner that sliding movement of the first (12) automatically causes the second (14) to slide for an equal amt. in the opposite direction. Blooms, etc. of different weight and/or size can be effectively handled.</p> |
