A method and a device for finishing, until erection, filling and sealing, of a planar package blank manufactured from a composite material which at least at the future inside of the package carries a sheet of a heat-sealable material whereby certain parts of the package blank are imparted a reduced material thickness in order to ease or enable joining and/or sealing of the material by means of heat. The planar package blank is formed in a process where the parts of the blank that are to be retained with unaffected material thickness are supported at a lower level 20; 20', whereupon the blank is brought to pass through a tool 22; 32 which reduces the material thickness of the package blank down to or near the heat-sealable sheet. The device may be constituted by a planar or cylindrical bed 19; 27 with depressed portions 20; 20' corresponding to those portions of the package blank 26 which are to be maintained with unaffected material thickness, and with milling surfaces 21; 21' corresponding to those portions of the blank 26 which are to be thinned. The bed 19; 27 may interact with a punch 25; 29 for forming the package blank. The tool for reducing the material thickness in certain areas of the blank may be constituted by a knife or a rotating, cylindrical milling cutter 22 or grinding roller. The bed 19; 27 is such formed with its depressed portions and milling surfaces that all portions of the blank that are to be thinned are milled simultaneously, whether the surfaces extend at several different locations, at angles to each other, in curved shape, or in any other way. <IMAGE> |
