PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion resistance of the magnetic layer of a magnetic recording medium and improve the durability of said medium by allowing the specific org. silicon compound to exist in the surface on the magnetic layer side of said medium. CONSTITUTION:The org. silicon compound expressed by the formula (Z is RO-, RNH-, RCOCOO-; R is C1-C20 alkylene; n is 1-3) is allowed to exist at about 0.1-10wt% based on the weight of magnetic powder in the surface on the magnetic layer side contg. magnetic powder of a magnetic recording medium whereby the intended magnetic recording medium is obtained. To this purpose, such a procedure to stick said compound on the magnetic layer side by a method of coating, spraying, dipping or the like, is used. The org. silicon compound expressed by the formula can be synthesized by causing chlorotrimethylsilane of any of (CH3)3SiCl, (CH3)2SiCl2, CH3SiCl3, and one kind of the compounds expressed by ROH, RNH2, RCOCOOH to react. |
