PURPOSE:To prepare a sweetening agent capable of suppressing cariogenicity of sucrose, by adding palatinose to sucrose. CONSTITUTION:For example, 100pts.wt. sucrose is blended with >=20pts.wt. palatinose, and used in the form of powder, crystal, and liquid. Palatinose is not only itself a saccharide having low cariogenicity but also inhibits the formation of insoluble glucan of sucrose by its coexistence with sucrose in the oral cavity, to prevent the occurrence of cariogenicity by sucrose. Consequently, a nutritive sweetening agent slightly causing a carious tooth is obtained. |
