PURPOSE:To lower the working temperature of packing and raise the sealability of a container by a method in which a stagnating portion for condensed liquid is provided between flange portions facing the door portion of the container and low-temperature condensed liquid trapped is contacted with the packing material for sealing. CONSTITUTION:A packing 5 is interleaved between the lower flange 2 and the upper flange 4 at the opening portion of a pressure container body 1 in order to seal up the opening portion. Following the lower flange 2, an upward projection 6 is provided to form an annular pond-like stagnating portion 8 for condensed liquid is formed between the rising connection parts 7 of the upper flange 4. In a batchwise operation , etc., using high-temperature and high-pressure steam, condensed water is trapped in the rising period of temperature and comes into contact with the packing 5. Thus, the stagnating portion 8 by heat radiation in and near the flange portion during the condensed water is held at lower temperatures by heat radiation from the flange portion without the rise of temperature and the loss of the condensed water and therefore, the packing 5 is kept at low temperatures and its heat resistance is secured. |
