The loading aid has an angular loading arm (2) which with a horizontal limb (5) can be displaced in a guide (3) running in the vehicle longitudinal direction and on a vertical limb (6) is provided with means (7...11) for gripping and holding the goods. For the purpose of loading and unloading the goods, the guide (3) can be pivoted about a transversely running spindle (4) on the chassis with the aid of a hydraulic drive (12). Arranged at the rear end of the vehicle, on both sides of the goods, is in each case a guide and locking device (16) with a guide rail (19) for steering the goods unit to be loaded from above into the desired position on a roller (15) and with a second guide and locking rail (21) for steering the goods unit from behind. The guide and locking rail (21) has a passage hole (26) in which a peg (27) projecting from the goods engages in a locking manner when the goods have been brought into the desired position on the chassis (1). Before reaching the locking position the guide and locking rail (21) can be pushed resiliently outwards and the two rails (19, 21) can be pivoted together from an upper operative position into a lower position in order to release an unloading path.
