Odorous waste gas from a sewage treatment plant is deodorized by catalytic oxidn. with NaClO soln. and NiO2. Thus, an odorous waste gas was countercurrently scrubbed with a soln. (pH 7.5 - 11.0) contg. 100 - 1000 ppm NaClO over a bed of NiO2 mixed with a carrier. Odorants which are applied to this method are H2S, mercaptans, Me2S, Me2S2, ketons, alcs., aldehydes, carboxylic acids, and so on. One of oxidizing towers, i.e., packed tower, bubble cap tower, plate tower, is used.
