Apparatus for transferring cut sections of rolled material, in particular rolled bars, from a shear to a cooling bed comprises longitudinal tubular guides consisting of sets of tubes 21, 22, 23, 24 rotatable about an axis each tube of a set having one end at a different radius from the axis to the others and the other end at a common radius so that the cut sections are transferred to guides 42 on the outside of drums 41, the sections being retarded on the drums and from them dropped on to a cooling bed. The retarding and cooling is aided by spraying the bars with that the bars are brought to rest at a predetermined location. The drums are cooled internally by water 43. The rolled material is fed by guide 6, adjustable by a pneumatic cylinder 7 between two positions, to the shear 8 and by one of guides 9, 9<SP>1</SP>, each adjusted between two delivery positions by pneumatic cylinders 10, 10<SP>1</SP>, to tubes 1, 2, 3 and 4 which have their delivery ends guided by a ratchet disc 12 which ensures the entry of the sections into the sets of guide tubes as they rotate with a water cooled tube 26. The tube 26 and the drums 41 are rotated by an hydraulic motor at a desired speed by a belt drive to pulley 32 and are connected to each other by splines. |
