<p>Parent patent described the mfr. of sintered-magnesite, -dolomite, etc. where the raw material is subjected to the steps: (a) crushing and milling, (b) pre-roasting via hot gases, (c) hot compaction, and (d) sintering. In this addn. step (b) is followed by (b1) intermediate storage, air removal, and pre-compaction prior to step (c). Step (b1) pref. uses storage for 30-90 (45-80) mins. and vibration causing precompaction to bulk density 0.85-1.25 kg/l. In the pref. plant, milling (a) is followed by a heat exchanger (b) heating the crude flour to 850-1000 (900-950) degrees C. via exhaust gas from a rotary drum furnace (d), and an insulated, vibrated container is used for step (b1). The density and strength of sintered briquettes used in mfr. refractories etc. is improved.</p> |
