PURPOSE:To provide a side defrosting effect in an air conditioner having upward diffusers at the central part and the right and left sides of a cabin by blowing through the right and left diffusers cool air of a temperature higher than that of air blown through the center diffuser in the cool air bilevel mode. CONSTITUTION:In the cool air bilevel mode, a damper 5 is opened, damper 6 is partly open and damper 14 is opened to mix air A heated by a heating core 3 and cool air B through a by-pass passage 3a. Part of the mixed air is supplied through a duct 8 to a lower diffuser of a heater, while a smaller amount of the mixed air is supplied through a duct 9 to a defroster and blown out from an opening of the defroster and through an opening 7a and a duct 16 to the upward openings of the right and left side diffusers. On the other hand, cold air which by-passes the heating core 3 is blown out from the center upward diffusers against the upper halves of the passengers' bodies through the by-pass passage 3a, an opening 12 and a duct 15. Accordingly, comfortable air conditioning capable of supplying warmer air to the lower part of the cabin and cooler air to the upper part of the cabin is attained and, at the same time, side defrosting effect is provided. |
