The invention relates to a process for the preparation of dodec-11-en-1-yl derivatives of the general formula <IMAGE> where R represents a hydroxyl group or an acetoxy radical, in which process 11-haloundecanoic acids of the general formula II of Claim 1 are reacted with bases to give 1-hydroxyundecanoic acids of the formula III in Claim 1, these are esterified with aliphatic alcohols to give alkyl 11-hydroxyundecanoates of the general formula IV in Claim 1, where R1 is an alkyl radical, these alkyl 11-hydroxyunde- canoates are oxidised to give alkyl 10-formyldecanoates of the general formula V in Claim 1, these alkyl 10-formyldecanoates are converted into alkyl dodec-11-en-1-oates of the general formula VI in Claim 1, and these are reduced to give the dodec-11-en-1-yl derivative of the general formula I where R represents a hydroxyl group, and, if appropriate, this derivative is acetylated to give the dodec-11-en-1-yl derivative of the general formula I where R represents an acetoxy radical. The resulting compounds are insect pheromones. |
