Each box comprises a body (1) whose opening (2) can be closed by a pivoting cover (3). Each face (4) or (5) of the body delimits at least one dovetail groove (16 to 19) the bottom of which has a protruding locking tooth (22) which, however, does not protrude beyond the face in question. The device comprises a strip (23; 24) whose profile is that of two male dovetails joined together by their smallest bases and capable of cooperating by sliding with the paired grooves facing the bodies of two adjacent boxes, an opening (25) being produced in this strip to engage on the teeth (22) of these two grooves. This device is applicable to the joining of identical boxes in order to form a perfect row in which any box can be opened or closed. <IMAGE>
