In the housing (1) of the float valve there is axially displaceably arranged a valve body which interacts with an inlet nozzle which is fitted in the inlet nipple (3). The valve body is controlled by a float (6) via a lever linkage (8). The float is arranged in a float housing (5) which has, at the bottom, a discharge opening (5a) controlled by a control float (9). The water flows through a discharge pipe (4) into the flushing cistern, the discharge pipe passing through the centre of the float (6) and the float housing (5). The float (6) is screw-connected to a float pipe (7) which can move axially on the discharge pipe (4) and bears, at the top, an annular groove (7b) into which the lever linkage (8) engages. The float valve has an extremely compact and therefore space-saving construction. <IMAGE>
