Compensator for pipe conduits consists of a rubber or elastomer-like bellows contg. an internal elastomer, an external elastomer and intermediate reinforcing inserts of textile or metallic supports surrounded by an adhesive layer. Novelty comprises using esp. galvanised steel wires as the metallic reinforcing supports . The adhesive layer consists of EPDM and contains at least 5% alternating EPDM. The adhesive layer resists heat and ageing. In mfg. the compensator blank, changes in shape, e.g. bulging, can be effected without causing cracks in the adhesive layer .
