Hygienic and odourless fertiliser prodn. from poultry manure - by mixing, heating and drying, and grinding

Prodn. of fertiliser from poultry manure comprises (A) mixing the manure, (B) heating the resulting mixt. to 90-100 deg. C and drying and (C) grinding the prod. obtd. Pref. active charcoal (pref. in an amt. of 5-20, esp. 10-15 wt.%, dry basis) is mixed with the manure, and the mixt. is pref. dried to a moisture content of 5-10 wt.%. Pref. the mixt. obtd. is dried by passing through a drying drum connected with an oven, the drum being heated to 400-800 deg. C by the combustion gases of the oven. The dried prod. from the oven is pref. passed to a cyclone in order to remove steam, ammonia and other gaseous cpds. The ground prod. is pref. granulated by passing it in moistened state through a matrix. The process gives a hygienic and odourless product which is free from microorganisms and weed seeds. The prod. is easy to handle and is suitable for greenhouse use.
