Test equipment for proving infrared communications link - has telescope focussed on display screen to give image of transmitter diodes

The proposed test system is intended for testing a high power infrared audio link in a large conference hall. Before the commencement of a session, the infrared transmitter (1), consisting of an array of IR diodes (3), is energised. With a telescope (4) arranged for infrared light the transmitter is viewed from a convenient point. The image is focussed on a screen (7) in the telescope and viewed through an eyepiece (8). Missing or incorrectly radiating diodes can thus be detected. The telescope, typically portable and hand held, can contain a battery power pack (9) parallel to the axis of the telescope tube.
