The fabric-forming device for wave-shed weaving machines having spirally arranged sinkers possessing driving teeth for the weft-yarn carriers and stop teeth for the weft yarn, and having a shedding device for wave shedding and a guide reed for guiding the warp yarns and the weft-yarn carriers is to be so designed, with the aim of improving the fabric quality and reducing the warp-yarn breaks, that the warp yarns are threaded in correctly from the outset, are not impeded during passage through the shed and are tied in at equal lateral intervals at the fabric stop edge. According to the invention, on the weft-yarn carrier there are guide surfaces for the warp yarns of the lower shed and upper shed in the region of the penetration zone of the driving gearwheel, which are inclined rearwards and towards the shed centre at approximately 15 DEG , and the second tooth is so far removed from the driving tooth that passage through the shed is concluded before this second tooth penetrates successively into the lower shed and upper shed. Preferably, the clearing and stop tooth form a unit, whilst the driving tooth is stepped. <IMAGE>
