<p>A Hookes universal joint, in which assembly and dismantling is facilitated by providing each bore 3 in the yoke arms of the joint with a portion 8 in which the bearing cup 4 is a press fit and a portion 9 of increased diameter. The press fit portion extends only over the part of the bearing cup corresponding to the length of the needle roller bearings within the bearing cup, and the increased diameter portion extends radially inwardly beyond an annular groove in which a retaining ring 5 is received. This enables the bearing cup to be pressed out of the press fit part of the bore by radial movement of the cross member of the joint. <IMAGE></p> |
