PURPOSE:To increase the mechanical strength and discharge performance of an organic electrolyte battery by using sodium polyacrylate as a binding agent for the positive electrode of the battery, which contains a negative electrode made of a light metal. CONSTITUTION:A current collecting body 1 is fused to the inner bottom wall of a positive can 2. A positive mixture 3 made of manganese dioxide or the like is pressed and fixed to the can 2, and is dried under reduced pressure to be unified with the can 2. A separator, and a negative electrode made of a light metal such as lithium or calcium are placed over the mixture 3, before the battery containing an organic electrolyte is sealed, thus a button-type battery is constituted. Here, the mixture 3 is added with sodium polyacrylate used as a binding agent. The content of sodium polyacrylate is preferred to be 0.2-5wt% of the combined amount of, for example, manganese dioxide and carbon powder. |
