The gas is made to flow between the plates of a condenser included in an oscillatory circuit, changes in the characteristics of which are used as the criterion of the presence of a specific gas component. The alteration in characteristic may consist in the alteration of frequency of oscillation of the circuit, which is measured by chopping with a fixed frequency. At least one component of a gaseous mixture may be identified, particularly a given compound in the effluent from gas chromatographic columns, and giving an integrated quantity over pre-determined times.
