[Also in Division B3] In a lathe having a tool changing apparatus, six bi-stable circuits B1-B6 Fig. 20, are controlled by switches RS1-RS6 in an electronic logic circuit, actuated by tool identification keys situated in the tool changing apparatus, the circuit operating when a tool magazine is rotating. The circuit includes six input terminals 230-235 from a tape reader, which provides instructions to a tool number, a tool station selection, and a park position, and a gate N 20 is interrogated. If the binary coding on the tool identification key matches the coding called for by the tape, a pulse is produced by a monostable circuit M2, so as to stop the rotation of the tool magazine. Terminals 236, 228 are connected to a logic circuit which passes an output to terminal 236 whenever a tool selection operation is required; the magazine is rotating, and the coding called for is other than 000000. Under any other conditions, no signal is applied to terminal 236, but a continuous signal is applied to terminal 228 to hold bi-stable circuits B1-B6 in their reset conditions. The coding grooves in the keys are read by switches and it is stated that coloured machines read by photoelectric cells could be employed. |
