PURPOSE:To provide a range finder which is capable of measuring distance by using 2 systems each of image orthicon elements and optics without using a laser range finder. CONSTITUTION:Two(2) system each of infrared image orthicon elements 1, 1 and optical systems 2, 2 are provided. The distance to a target 6 is measured by moving horizontally images of the target to be obtained by these two systems of infrared image orthicon elements 1, 1 and optical systems 2, 2 until they overlap each other and simultaneously by detecting the amount of horizontal movement of images. The amount of parallel movement of images of the target until they overlap each other can be found out by, for instance, X Y coordinate method, etc. A servo mount 4 is controlled by servo signals from an image process unit 3 so that the optical axis of the optical system 2 tracks the target 6. |
