PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance by cultivating a variant having recovered carotenoid synthesis ability from a variant having a defect in synthesizing carotenoid or a variant having a deterioration in synthesizing carotenoid, belonging to the genus Pseudomonas, capable of producing coenzyme Q. CONSTITUTION:A bacterium belonging to the genus Pseudomonas, e.g., Pseudomonas N842, etc., capable of producing coenzyme Q and carotenoid, is subjected to variation treatment, to give a variant, e.g., Pseudomonas M157, etc. having a defect or a deterioration in synthesizing carotenoid. The variant is again subjected to variation treatment to give a variant having recovered carotenoid synthesis ability (Pseudomonas M157-B3 strain), and this variant is cultivated aerobically to give a mold. Coenzyme Q is isolated from the prepared mold or the mold is directly used. |
