The turning radius of an articulated vehicle is determined by, amongst other things, the distribution of the weight of the vehicle on the ground. An articulated, tracked vehicle 10<1> is now provided with a hydraulic cylinder unit 22 coupling the front vehicle unit 11 to the rear vehicle unit 12 in addition to the conventional pivotal coupling 30. The overall length of the hydraulic cylinder unit 22 is shortened to tilt the vehicle units 11 and 12 and thus re-distribute the weight so that it is concentrated in the central region of the vehicle 10<1>. The inside vehicle tracks 16 and 18 are locked and the outside tracks used as the effective driving means so that a turn on a small radius is carried out.
