PURPOSE:To measure outside diameters with simple circuits without contacting by determining the ratio of the times when two sensors provided in the two positions of a passage through which a circular object passes in contact with a rolling surface detect said object. CONSTITUTION:Photosensors 3, 4 consisting of light emitting diodes and photodetectors are disposed in a passage for a circular object 2 such as coin rolling in a direction A along a rolling surface 1. The pulses corresponding to the times t1, t2 when a coin 2 shuts off the sensors 3, 4 are inputted via drivers 5, 6 to timees 7, 8, by which the detected times t1, t2 are measured. The outputs thereof are applied to an arithmetic circuit 9, by which t1/t2 is operated, and the outside diameter of the coin 2 is discriminated by a discrimination circuit 10. Thereby, the outside diameter is measured without contacting with the simple circuits. |
