PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption and to realize a compact and light- weight structure, by applying the high voltage only when the discharging starts and applying and preserving the start voltage when the steady discharging is carried out to drop the start voltage during the steady discharging and thus to obtain the stable discharge. CONSTITUTION:The high voltage Vsi is applied only when the discharging is started, and the start voltage Vs is applied during the steady discharge to maintain the discharge. In such conditions, the melt-sticking connection of an optical fiber is carried out. The time during which the ion produced by the discharge travels between the electrodes is referred to as t0; and 10t0>=(tf+td+tr) is satisfied by prescribing an AC voltage waveform which is applied in the steady state. Thus Vs/Vsi is reduced. In the above-shown relation, tf, td and tr show the fall time, pause time and rise time of the AC voltage respectively. In such way, the stable discharge is maintained also to realize not only a small and light-weight structure but the structure but the saving of electric power. |
