PURPOSE:To realize proper charge of an alkaline zinc storage battery, by feeding a reverse current in pulses, and comparing a terminal voltage of the storage battery with a reference voltage, which is obtained by subjecting the former terminal voltage to a specific temperature compensation, under the condition of an open circuit. CONSTITUTION:An alkaline zinc storage battery 3 is charged with a charging power source 1 through a semiconductor controlling element 2. A voltage comparator 4 receives an inverse input of a reference voltage Vr from a voltage generaring circuit 5, and receives a non-inverse input of a voltage Vb from a storage battery 3. A constant voltage diode 9 of the circuit 5 has a temperature coefficient of -2- -4mV/ deg.C, and the voltage of the battery 3 undergoes temperature compensation, thereby obtaining a voltage Vr. In such a combination, the battery 3 is charged during charge time T1 according to a timer 6, a semiconductor element 7 turns on and the battery 3 is discharged through a resistance 8 during discharge time T2, and the movement of the timer 6 is prohibited during voltage comparison prohibited time T3. After the former time T3, when release voltage becomes stable, the voltages Vr and Vb are compared. When the voltages Vr and Vb satisfy the relationship of Vb<Vr, charge, discharge and comparison are carried out repeatedly. |
