In a tilting window having a casing 1 and an intermediate frame 3 which is top-hung therein, as well as a main frame 7 mounted as a tilting frame in the intermediate frame, the main frame 7 has a detention member 10 fitted close to the pivot mounting 6, which detention member, upon closure of the window, which is realized by coordinated pivoting of the main frame relative to the intermediate frame and of the latter relative to the casing, engages with a corresponding detention member 11 on the casing. After the two frames 3 and 7 have been locked together at the top, the window will then be fixed in the closed or slightly open position. Of operating members, only a locking or coupling mechanism is required at the top of the window. <IMAGE>
