The padded armrest is pivoted about fixed axes (3) between two stamped metal plates (14) bolted into the seat frame. A curved track (10) on each plate locates an eccentric stub (16) on each side of the armrest to track when the armrest is swung. Ratchet holes (16) in the tracks secure the two positions of the armrest. The thin metal supports are lightweight and simple and do not take up much space. The armrest pivot axis (3) is located in a keyhole slot in each end of the plates.
