The self-tensioning tube receiver has a sliding pipe (7) which is arranged on the shaft (1) fixedly in terms of rotation, but so as to be axially displaceable, and of which the end located on the machine side has two grooves (3, 5) of differing diameter for receiving an expandable clamping ring (2), for example an O-ring. When the tube receiver is in the inoperative position, the clamping ring (2) rests in the groove of smaller diameter; its outside diameter is so much larger than the inside diameter of the winding tube (6) that it is taken up during the pushing on of the winding tube (6) and is rolled over the rising rolling face (4) in the second groove (5) of larger diameter. A first clamping connection is thereby obtained. A second clamping ring (12) rests in a groove (15) of smaller diameter on the circumference of a shaped ring (11) sitting firmly on the shaft (1) and having perforations (14). In the inoperative position, the outside diameter of the clamping ring (12) is smaller than the inside diameter of the winding tube (6). By means of the first clamping connection on the clamping ring (2), when the winding tube (6) is pushed further the sliding pipe (7) is displaced axially counter to spring force (8). Consequently, via the extension (20) of the sliding ring (13), the clamping ring (12) is displaced into the groove (17) of larger diameter in order to make a second clamping connection. <IMAGE>
