PURPOSE:To reduce the length of the Trans-axle by enabling transmission of power from one end of a transmission mounted on an FF vehicle and the like in the lateral direction thereof to one side of front and rear wheels through the intermediary of a final reduction gear and the like and from the other end of the transmission to the other side of the wheels. CONSTITUTION:The power of an engine 1 is transmitted to the main shaft 7 of the transmission 4 through a crank shaft 2 and a clutch 3 and is delivered to a sub-shaft 8 through the intermediary of synchronizing mechanisms 13 and 14 and gear trains 9-12. When a two-four-wheel drive switching clutch 26 is set for two-wheel drive, the power of the sub-shaft 8 is transmitted to the side of front wheel through the intermediary of the final reduction gear 5, a differential gear 17 and a shaft 22. Meanwhile, when the clutch is set for four-wheel drive, the other end of the sub- shaft 8 drives a rear drive shaft 38 and a propeller shaft 30 through the intermediary of the clutch device 26, the gear train 25 of a transfer device 6, a transfer shaft 24 and a bevel gear 29, thus driving rear wheels. By this constitution, the length of the Trans-axle in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle can be reduced. |
