Continuous liq. organic cpd. sulphonation with sulphur tri:oxide - in homogeniser contg. case as stator and revolving truncated cone rotor

In the continuous sulphonation of liq. organic cpds. with SO3, a liq. organic cpd. is introduced continuously into the centre of a homogeniser. The homogeniser consists of a case (1) as stator, fitted with a revolving truncated cone rotor (2). The rotor surface is provided with coaxial rings having staggered dias. Each ring is positioned so as to fill gaps with similar rings at the case inner wall opposite the rotor. The organic cpd. is reacted in the meander-like homogeniser reaction zone after forming a mono-molecular layer with liq. or gaseous SO3, continuously injected in stoichiometric quantities into the passage-contg. stator. The reaction prod. is finally discharged from homogeniser. Sulphonation prods. are used as anionic detergent raw materials. Pure sulphonated prods. are obtd. in high yields, without the use of diluent air. The energy required for air processing is saved, amounting to 50 kw for 1000 cu.m. air.
