Production process for ferrite core - uses ferrite pin moved to generate signal for controlling movement of core grinding wheel

The production of ferrite cores with narrow tolerances on the inductive performance is provided by a grinding process. The ferrite core (1) is located on the surface of rapid table (8) with a lapped finish insert (2). A movable pin (7) of high permeability ferrite material is moved to form a sensing gap (9) with the ferrite core surface (5) that is detected by a coil (3). The output of the sensor coil may be used to control the movement of the grinding wheel used to size the ferrite core.
