Wind-driven motor e.g. coupled to drainage pump - has oscillating beam with wind turbine at either end

The motor has an oscillating beam or a number of coupled beams each with a wind turbine at both ends. The adjustment of the turbines in the vicinity of the dead centre is obtained via a gearing and a lever mechanism. Pref. the adjustment control comprises a modified parallel crank mechanism with two chain wheels coupled via an overlong chain. One of the chain wheels is fixed to the crank shaft while the other is freely supported. The chain is tensioned via a pair of tensioning wheels mounted on a carriage movable perpendicularly to the line joining the centres of the two chain wheels in either direction in dependence of the sense of the required adjustment. The motor can be used to drive a reciprocating pump for land drainage.
