ELEMENT FOR CONVERTING PLANE OF POLARIZATION

PURPOSE:To convert polarizing status simply by forming a spiral part with a high refractive index in a core so that both centers consist with each other and twisting the spiral part toward the center of the core in the longitudinal direction of the core. CONSTITUTION:Like an ordinal optical fiber, the entitled element is constituted by a core 1 in the center and a clad 2 in the periphery and a spiral part with a high refractive index is formed so as to give the optical fiber multiple refractive indexes. The same effect as the twisting of the optical fiber with multiple refractive indexes itself is obtained by rotating a spiral part 4 with high refractive index centering around the center of the core along the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber and the incident straight polarization is projected after turning the polarizing direction. The cnverting element for plane of polarization with these constitution can be used together with the optical fiber by connecting them directly.
