PURPOSE:To make the size smaller and to reduce weight of a generator and to improve stability of a geothermal power generating system by a method wherein a synchronous generator being made a field winding thereof to come in superconductive condition is used for geothermal power generating system. CONSTITUTION:The superconducting synchronous generator 10 is formed of a superconducting rotor 11, a gap winding type armature coil 12 and a magnetic shield 13. Energy of vapor generated in the geothermal region 1 makes rotating energy to convert into electric energy in a steam turbine 5. The superconducting rotor 11 accommodates the field winding consisted of a superconductive conductor together with liqud helium to hold in superconducting condition constantly. Accordingly an armature winding 12 necessitates no core, synchronous reactance is reduced to improve stability of the system, and no Joule heat is generated to enhance efficiency of power generation. |
