<p>PURPOSE:To ensure the free registering and reading of words for a user himself of an electronic dictionary, by providing a rewritable memory that stores the optional types of word information to be supplied from a key input part and its translated word information. CONSTITUTION:ROMx 25 and 26 that store previously the basic English and Japanese sentences and words are provided along with a rewritable RAM24. When the English word information is supplied by an alphabet key, the key data is accumulated in an input buffer 14 and also displayed on a display device 27. The data is then written into the address of an English area of the RAM24 designated by an idle pointer 21AE of an idle area control circuit 21 with operation of an English key. After this the KANA (Japanese syllabary) keys and a sum key are operated to register the Japanese translated words into the address which is designated by an idle pointer 21AJ in the Japanese area of the RAM24. Then an English sentence is supplied and the Japanese translation key is operated. As a result, a searching circuit 17 retrieves the ROMs 25 and 26 plus the RAM24, and the translated Japanese words are read.</p> |
