PURPOSE:To improve fixation sensitivity and storage stability without impairing color development sensitivity, and to enable both negative and positive images to be selectively obtained, by forming a light and heat sensitive recording material using a cobalt complex and having a specified combination of layers and a specified composition of each layer. CONSTITUTION:A basic substance-generating layer 2 containing a cobalt (III) ammine complex or amine complex, a redox couple of a multinuclear quinone and a hydrogen donor, and a chelating agent is formed on a substrate 1. An interlayer 3 made of a water-soluble or emulsifiable resin, and a color-developing layer 4 containing a leucoaminotriarylmethane, an acid accelerating color development, and hexaarylbiimidazole as a photooxidizing agent are successively laminated on the layer 2. This recording material is exopsed to light, and then heated, resulting in generating a basic substance and deactivating the color development ability of the exposed part by movement of the basic substance to the color-developing layer. Subsequently, said unexposed part is oxidized and color is developed by exposure of the whole surface to ultraviolet rays. |
