PURPOSE:To shorten the axial displacement of a vertical roll, and to improve the dimensional accuracy, by permitting a part of a horizontal roll to directly contact with a part of a vertical roll while performing a rolling process, in case of rolling a vertically asymmetric steel shape with a universal rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:Upper parts of vertical rolls 12, 12' are provided with recesses 15, 15'; on the other hand, an upper horizontal roll 11 is provided with projections 14, 14' at positions corresponding to these recesses 15, 15'. The rolling process is performed under a condition that the recesses 15, 15' are directly contacting with projections 14, 14'. Since the upper horizontal roll 11 keeps the direct contact with vertical rolls 12, 12', the vertical positional relation between four rolls is always kept accurately. Besides, by their direct contact, respective or relative position of upper and lower horizontal rolls 11, 11' and the left and right vertical rools 12, 12' are easily adjusted, and the product with a good dimensional accuracy is obtained. |
