PURPOSE:To determine the quantity of eccentricity of cores easily by opposing the cut end faces of both optical fibers which are cut to two pieces from one piece to each other, then aligning the centers of both cores mutually on the segment connecting the centers of both outside diameters. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 11,12 are cut from originally one piece into two pieces, and are constituted of a long optical fiber 11 and an exceedingly short optical fiber 12 intended for measuring their eccentricity. Thereafter, the cut end faces of both fibers 11, 12 which are held by V grooves 31, 32 are opposed to each other and both fibers 11, 12 are so formed that the centers 01, 02 of both outside diameters align to each other with their outside shapes as a reference. Both fibers 11,12 are relatively moved along the segment D1-D2 and the extent of their movement is read and is bisected, whereby the quantity of eccentricity of the core is easily determined. |
