PURPOSE:To expand an effective width of radiation of ultraviolet rays against an irradiated body and enhance reliability, by charging palladium in a luminescent tube together with gas for starting-up, mercury, iron and halogen. CONSTITUTION:Both sides of a luminescent tube 1 made of quartz glass etc. are respectively provided with electrodes 2, which are respectively connected to a lead 5 through metallic foil conductors 4 sealed within a crushed sealing portions 3 of the luminescent tube 1. Within this luminescent tube 1, palladium together with starting gas such as argon, mercury, mercury iodide and iron is charged 1mg in quantity in such a manner that e.g. its gram atom ratio to the iron is below 2. By thus adding and sealing palladium, a lowering rate of intensity of ultraviolet rays is decreased generally, while an effective width of radiation of the ultraviolet rays against an irradiated body may be expanded and a lamp of a photochemical reaction with high reliability may be obtained. |
