PURPOSE:To enhance the stability of a dye recording layer, by supporting a methine dye, wherein the 7-membered ring part of an azulene nucleus is substituted with a methine bond having an auxochrome forming a conjugated resonance chromophore along with the 10-pi-electron system of said nucleus at the terminal thereof, by a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A methine dye, wherein the 7-membered ring part of an azulene nucleus having 10 carbon atoms at least one of which is substituted with a chalcogen atom or a nitrogen atom is substituted by a methine bond having an auxochrome forming a conjugated resonance chromophore along with the 10-pi-electron system of said nucleus at the terminal thereof, and a quencher are dissolved in org. solvent to prepare a coating solution which is, in turn, applied to a substrate composed of glass or plastic to form an optical data recording medium having a recording layer. The thickness of the recording layer is usually 0.01-2mum, pref., 0.02-0.8mum. |
