The accessory is mounted on the flange or boss of a storage or transport vessel for compressed or liquefied gas. It has at the end nearest to the interior of the vessel a seat (7) for a non-return valve flap (8) mounted by a hinge (10,11,12) on the boss (4). This opens when a radial force is applied to it from the interior (5) of the vessel. This force can be exerted directly by a medium under pressure, or by a transmission member mounted in the boss, typically a hinging tappet in the diametral plane of the flap.
