The cable grip comprises a pair of jaws which surround the cable. The jaws each comprise a sheet of material with a semicircular notch cut from one edge, so that the two together define the circular aperture in which the cable is gripped. Each jaw has a series of concentric semicircular grooves formed on both faces, the circles being centred around the cable notch. These grooves enable the cable grip to be adjusted to receive a range of diameters of cable. The edges of the jaws which fit together are not straight, but are inclined by a small angle ranging between 2 and 5 degrees. This then makes it possible to form a perfect seal between the two jaws and the cable even when the cable is not exactly round in cross-section.
