1327877 Valves MASCO CORP 2 Dec 1971 [9 April 1971] 56079/71 Heading F2V A hot and cold water mixing valve comprises a mixing chamber 13, Fig. 1, a cold water inlet 21, a hot water inlet 22, and a ported plastics disc 18 rotatable with a stem 16. The stem 16 carries a member 48 provided with two arms. 57 and 58, Fig. 2, which abut against an upstanding boss 47 of a bushing 19 to define a first position in which the inlet ports are both closed and a second, fully hot, position in which the hot water inlet port 22 only is open. As the disc 18 moves from the closed position, the port 33 therein, Fig. 4, first uncovers the cold water inlet 21 but is eventually moved out of alignment as the port 34 is brought into full coincidence with the hot water inlet 22. The water in the mixing chamber flows to the outlet over the edges of the disc 18. The fully hot position is adjustable by means of a screw 59 extending through arm 58. The bushing 19 can be turned through 180 degrees to adapt the valve for clockwise or anti-clockwise operation. Seats 27 are formed of rubber |
