PURPOSE:To improve the combustion efficiency in multi-valve engines by a system wherein intake valves and exhaust valves are disposed on the respective diagonal lines so as to generate a vortex within a combustion chamber in an ideal manner. CONSTITUTION:In a 4-stroke engine in which each cylinder has two intake valves and two exhaust valves disposed at intervals of an equal angle therebetween about a central axis of the cylinder, those intake valves and exhaust valves are arranged on diagonal lines passing through the central axis of the cylinder, respectively. By so doing, when both the intake valves are opened at the same time in an suction stroke, intake air flows into a combustion chamber in the direction indicated by an arrow, so that an ideal vortex is generated therein. This makes of possible to agiitage mixture gas sufficiently and hence to improve the combustion efficiently. |
