PURPOSE:To copolymer of isopropylstyrene is hydroperoxidized and 2-aminoethyl- styrene or its derivative is grafted onto the product, thus producing the titled polymer having the hydrophobic main chain and hydrophilic grafted side chains. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer of isopropylstyrene (preferably containing it by 6- 60mol%) with a vinyl monomer such as styrene is oxidized with the air or oxygen in a solvent such as chlorobenzene in the pressnce of a radical initiator such as azobisisobutyronitrile to effect partial hydroperoxidation. A salt of monomer of formula II (R1, R2 are H, 1-20C alkyl) and an aqueous solution of reducing agent such as lactose are added to the resultant polymer solution containing the structural unit of formulaIand the graft polymerization is effected under emulsion state and the product is neutralized to produce the graft polymer of formula III. |
