The device is used to tighten a vehicle wheel onto the plate (31) of a wheel balancing appts. and is fitted with pins (33) passing through the holes in the rim to fix it against the plate (31). Two star shaped pieces (17,18) coaxial with the apparatus plate (31) are provided, and rotate in opposite directions, due to a spring, so that their radial edges (19,20) push against the pins (33) and are fixed by a threaded rod (21). A removable sleeve surrounding the pin (33) pushes on one side against the rim and on the other side against the inner star shaped piece (18). The pin (33) has a recess (34) for the edge (19) of the outer star shaped piece (17).
